European Industrial Technologies Conference

We participated as a project at the European Industrial Technologies Conference during three days of 7, 8 and 9 September 2010, at the Tour & Taxis Exhibitions Center in the European Capital, Brussels. During the regular conference breaks the hundreds of participants from all over the world spent time interacting with more than 30 exhibitors at booths set-up by individual companies or FP7 project consortia, like ours.

A young lady visitor undergoing the Visual Map testAt our stand, we received a large number of participants... spanning from simply curious watchers of our non-stop video clips (with samples of the various technologies we use), up to those subjecting us to in-depth questioning about the project itself. Quite a few visitors have also participated in visual strategy tests on a map developer device (courtesy of Indo).  With enthusiasm they expressed a genuine interest in acquiring Eyemade (Indo Trademark) progressive lenses, based on their obtained visual maps.

It was interesting to hear that people expect the new personalized spectacles to be premium priced... no doubt about it! But they were equally prepared to pay the difference for the privilege to own a fully personalized pair of spectacles, the only one that would offer those vital aesthetic and comfort services to an end user.

Among the many visitors we received distinguished visits from DG RTD Director von Bose, DG RTD Heads of Unit Messrs Tokamanis and Vallés, and a few DG RTD project officers among whom our responsible PO for the made4U project, Mrs Salona. We have also created the visual map of one of the conference speakers, Emanuele Carpanzano, from SYNESIS.

Representatives from the project itself were: Mr. Vilajoana-Mas (as the Indo deputy-Coordinator), Mr. Joan Guasch, Manager of Ascamm, Prof Dr. Braet from Braecis and Prof Dr.Ir. Kritis from the University of Antwerp, and finally, from Setubal in Portugal, Mrs Marqués, General Manager/Owner (and professionally qualified optician) of Optica Pita, a project partner.  Mrs Marqués, a natural sales talent, who had the exceptional skill to set all users undergoing the Visual Map analysis at their comfort and ease, performed the many successful tests during the conference.
